Burnt Sienna — Stijn Eeckhout

Unlike conventional photographs, the images from Burnt Sienna don’t aim to transport the viewer to a frozen moment in time. This series brings a reality detached from time and narrative, with only an echo from everyday life as we know it. It shows us that photography can create its own timeless dimension, that it’s more than we can visually perceive. That photography can also encompass what we feel and understand. Burnt Sienna takes you into a cryptic world that holds remarkable parallels with film and refers to the ancient earth-coloured pigment used in paintings mainly for underpainting and shadow tones in order to create a visual layering.
