BAD is a brand-new event promoting the discovery of contemporary creativity in art and design. This unconventional trade fair will propel you into a total experience of Belgian art and design, at a venue in Ghent that is simply bursting with character.
At BAD Belgium Art and Design, Cecilia Jaime Gallery will present the work of two artists: Saar De Buysere(BE) and Cecilia Jaime (BE-ARG).
26 years ago Cecilia Jaime moved from the subtropical North of Argentina to Belgium. Cecilia Jaime’s work consists of sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings, videowork, and photography. Life experiences, travels, memories, great environment chan- ges in the world and the developments in media and technology drove the artist into new reflections and into using new and more diverse media to express her ideas. Born in the Northwest of Argentina, Cecilia Jaime developed an important landscape photographic work – photography is combined with a dramatic and poetic tranquility. At BAD her recent creations and works should be installed in a kind of mise en scène. Monumental landscapes of exuberant nature serve as geographic frames of works in which the spectator is positioned over the edge .
Saar De Buysere shows cropping mountain views and landscapes in the form of sculptures and drawings. As an experienced mountain guide she shows you all perspectives and in her three-dimensional work she shows you the top view and a view of the cross section. In her drawings, Saar De Buysere fills scratches and underlines with graphite pencil. The crystals she mattifies through a secret process. Her devoted patience when drawing shows a deep concentration and passion. For the sculptures she uses mixed materials which results in a real eruption of experiment. The layers and intrusions show how this sculpture came about. But you keep wondering what materials and what proportions play a part. Only an examination in a laboratory could give us certainty.
